Best Sport: Roses 2010

Roses 2010 was a joint venture with Lancaster University Student TV station LUTube.tv, broadcasting live footage on each of the three days, including live commentary, and video mixing. There were four shows broadcasting each day, with a mixture of YSTV and LUTube presenters, directors, editors, producers, technicians and camera operators, working around the clock to keep the most up to date information on each show, and the live coverage. The shows themselves were broadcast live, four times a day, then uploaded to the relevant websites. They included interviews from within the studio, commentary on matches, updates on the events and where they were happening, score updates, and a live interview with Lancaster’s head of sport Sue Wynes, immediately after the winners were announced, and shortly after an interview with Emily Scott York Sport President. On the final day the combination of the two teams worked to broadcast the closing ceremony, as well as creating a summary video to be played at the closing ceremony. Using a live broadcast truck with 3 cameras set up on the main pitch, 2 cameras in the sports hall, and further roaming cameras, the team captured interviews with Captains and University representatives, vox pops on the atmosphere, winning, and a variety of different themes to express the overall event. YSTV/LUTube covered a whole variety of different events, including the It’s a Knockout competition, and discussion of the different social events, to show that it’s not all about the sport.
