Fantastic venture guys, I always thought the archive was one of the most under-used parts of YSTV and as this video shows has many treasures that haven't seen the light of day since original broadcast, so I look forward to seeing everything! We had a go at looking through it during my time (we did an archive feature on my show and I made a compilation of all the election nights up to that point, and Richard put in a lot of time too) but never managed to do much more due to lack of time. Make sure you get a mention in the next Grapevine alumni mag about this venture as many ex-members would love to see their old shows again. Oh and we did Soldering With Ed in 2004, it was gripping....

@Richard - Yep, the techies have a set up that captures 2 tapes at a time. All we have to do is feed it a tape and write the name when it begs for a new one! Apparently there's around 2000 hours of archive to get through, that's before they start work on "Umatic"... @Laura - Duly noted. @whoa! - YES. Everything. We mean absolutely everything. If the techies can record it, it's going online.

Impressive - about half of that is shots I've never seen before, despite all the hours I spent extracting old footage for people. You're obviously putting a load of effort into this!

From our historywiki: "Sometime circa 1992/3, a number of techies were fixing things in P/X/002 on a Wednesday afternoon, and due to lack of space in the office/workshop, Adrian took whatever he was fixing into the studio to work on it. Some bright spark switched on a camera, pointed it at Adrian, and then went live" - to YSTV's campus cable network.
